Police have recovered the body of a US citizen from the Westin Dhaka.
Authorities said the American embassy in Dhaka later took custody of the body without a postmortem after confirming natural causes of death.
The deceased, identified as Terrence Arvelle Jackson, was about 50 years old, had been in Bangladesh on business for several months and checked into the hotel on Apr 29.
According to Gulshan police chief Hafizur Rahman, hotel staff failed to get a response from him on Sunday afternoon and, with police and embassy officials present, opened the room with a master key to find him dead. An embassy doctor examined the body before it was taken into embassy custody.
Investigators from CID, PBI and other units also visited the scene.
