VAT intelligence has unearthed VAT evasion worth Tk 215 million by a human resources service organisation Frontdesk Bangladesh Limited.
The intelligence wing filed a case on Wednesday against the organisation, located in the capital’s Baridhara.
In a press statement, the VAT audit, intelligence and investigation wing said that the organisation evaded VAT by concealing sales information.
In an investigation, the VAT team found the organisation sold services worth Tk 1.29 billion but showed Tk 328 million.
They have paid VAT worth Tk 26 million instead of their payable Tk 194.5 million.
The intelligence team investigated the period from February 2015 to July 2020.
The organisation has evaded VAT worth Tk 157 million. As per VAT law, the NBR imposed 2.0 per cent monthly interest on VAT worth Tk 57.5 million.
In the statement, the VAT intelligence said many of the renowned businesses are clients of this organisation, including Lafarge Holcim, Banglalink digital communications limited, Micro Bangladesh limited, Fintech solution limited, Berger paints limited, Novartis Bangladesh limited, P&G Bangladesh, OpsoninPharma limited, Robi Axiata Limited etc.
