Anti-British movement leader Jasim Uddin Mondal passed away at a city hospital on Monday morning due to old age complications.
The veteran communist leader breathed his last around 6:00am at Health and Hope Hospital in Dhaka city's Panthapath, said Rubel Ahmed, public relations officer of the hospital, reports UNB.
The 95-year-old leader was admitted to the hospital on September 28, he adeed.
Comrade Jasim was later shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital at 8:47pm on Sunday as his condition deteriorated.
Jasim Uddin, born at Nadia in West Bengal in 1922, took part in the anti-British movement.
He joined the Communist Party in 1940. He moved to Pabna's Ishwardi with his family after the Partition and helped railway workers build a movement, reports bdnews24.
Comrade Jasim also played a role in organising the Liberation War in 1971.
