Veteran journalist Ajmal Hossain Khadem passes away

Veteran journalist and former president of the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) Ajmal Hossain Khadem has died of heart disease.

He passed away at 12:00 am on Tuesday at Impulse Hospital. He had been suffering from kidney ailments for a long time, the family said.

Khadem was 76. He will be buried at Banani Graveyard following funeral prayers at the Banani Central Mosque after Zuhr prayers on Tuesday, reports bdnews24.com.

Khadem served at Daily Banglar Bani for a long time in the Seventies. He was the bibliographer for ‘Sangbad Prabaha,’ a news review programme on Bangladesh Betar which was hugely popular.

In 1988, Ajmal Hossain Khadem was elected Dhaka Reporters Unity president. He was a permanent member of the Jatiya Press Club and other journalists’ organisations.

He also worked as public relations official for a Dhaka City Corporation for a time.
