The complications over visas for Bangladeshis in the United Arab Emirates will be resolved soon, assures UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Khaseif AlHmoudi.

AlHmoudi made the remarks at a reception honouring Bangladesh’s Ambassador Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey at the Millennium Plaza Downtown Hotel in Dubai on Monday, bdnews24.com reports.

“Visas for Bangladeshis were not halted for any political reason. The complication over UAE visas for Bangladeshi nationals will be resolved between January and February next year,” AlHmoudi said at the event organised by Bangladesh Community UAE.

Calling Bangladesh his ‘second home,’ the UAE ambassador said the UAE visa service for Bangladesh and some other countries has been halted for now. The number of Bangladeshi nationals living in the UAE rose to 1.2 million from 800,000 a few years ago, which is the highest among the expatriates from other countries.

Bangladesh Community UAE President Moazzem Hossain presided over the occasion. Acting Consul General Ashfaque Hossain also attended.

Mushfiqul said, “The July mass uprising led by students will be a golden chapter not only in the history of Bangladesh but also of the world. After reforms of state structure, Bangladesh will be ruled by an elected government. Everyone should help the Yunus government and propel the reforms.”

He also expressed his hope the visa crisis with the UAE would be resolved soon. “There are no possibilities of cracks developing in the strong friendship between our two countries.”
