Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Abdus Salam has warned that contractors will face consequences if they charge more than Tk 100 for collecting household waste.

At an Iftar event on Friday, he said any contractor found demanding more than the fixed amount would have their primary collection service provider (PCSP) licence revoked.

He noted that residents and shopkeepers must leave their refuse in designated spots for collection.

Speaking briefly before the iftar, he sought cooperation from city residents to make Dhaka a clean city, saying work has already begun to transform both DSCC and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) into clean cities and green cities under the direction of Tarique Rahman.

He also touched upon the preservation of Old Dhaka's heritage, saying that the local food, culture, and historical sites must be protected.

According to him, plans are being drawn up to make these landmarks more attractive to both domestic and international tourists, a task the DSCC intends to spearhead.

Referring to extortion, mugging and drugs in the metropolis, he said there would be no compromise, warning that those involved in such crimes would not be spared regardless of political identity or influence.

Addressing the rising mosquito menace in the capital, Salam said the corporation will intensify its extermination drives to provide relief to city dwellers.
