Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said the Myanmar Army and the Arakan Army have been warned not to fire at Bangladeshi boats on the Naf River.
If they continue firing, Bangladesh will retaliate, he said.
The minister made the remarks while responding to a question at a press briefing at the secretariat on Thursday.
Various ethnic groups are fighting against the government in Myanmar, he said, adding that the Arakan Army has reportedly captured many areas of Rakhine State, forcing the Border Guard Police (BGP) of Myanmar to flee towards the border with Bangladesh to defend themselves.
"They have occasionally opened fire on our Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) team by mistake. We have informed them. They said no one will shoot at the vessels carrying the Bangladeshi flag," the home minister said.
