Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin today (Sunday) said the commission will present a fair, nice and well-accepted election to the nation.
He said this in a post-Eid meeting for views exchange with the commissioners and officials of the Election Commission (EC) at the Nirbachon Bhaban at Agargaon in the city, BSS reports.
"Most of the pending work related to the next general elections have progressed. Now we will give the finishing touch to the work", he said.
Appreciating the EC officials, the CEC said, “You have never seen to be failed in whatever tasks so far you were asked to do…you have done all the work within the timeframe.”
“Our oath is to work neutrally…without any bias to any political party and perform duties as per the rule and applying our own common sense”, he said.
The CEC said the commission will perform its duties as a referee; nonetheless, who are the players and who will win.
”But our responsibility is to make a level playing field and we are firm to do that”, he added.
Referring to the Chief Adviser’s pledge to the nation and the world, the CEC said we want to present a historical election to the nation.
The Chief Adviser is telling this as he keeps confidence in us and the ability of the commission, the CEC said.
