Writ challenges BB letter fining One Bank

The High Court on Thursday started hearing on a writ petition filed by One Bank challenging a Bangladesh Bank letter that fined One Bank Tk 1.0 million on charge of violating Section 15(4) of the Bank Company Act 1991 (amended 2018) and keeping its chairman Sayeed Hossain Chowdhury as a director of the bank.

After partial hearing, the High Court bench of Justice Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman fixed next Monday (July 13) for further hearing and passing order on the petition.

Advocate Ahsanul Karim took part in the hearing on behalf of One Bank, while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam attended in person. Barrister Munirujjaman represented Bangladesh Bank and Deputy Attorney General Amit Das Gupta represented the state.
