My only aim in life is to ensure prosperity for my people, Hasina tells Biden

During her conversation with the US President Joe Biden, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that her only aim in life is to ensure prosperous life for all the people of her country, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said this on Tuesday.

The foreign minister was talking to reporters after a meeting in the city.

Asked about the meetings of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during the G20 Summit in Delhi, the Foreign Minister said that the Prime Minister met a number of global leaders during the Summit.

"And her conversation with the US President Joe Biden was held in a very warm and friendly manner. All of them looked very happy during that conversation," the FM said.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina told the US President that she lost all of her relatives in 1975 and since then she treatd all the people of her country as her family members.

"And in line with the dream of her father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, her only aim is to ensure happy and prosperous life for her people," the foreign minister mentioned.

Dr Momen also said that in response to the remarks of the Bangladesh Prime Minister, the US President said that he is aware of the spectacular development of Bangladesh under her leadership.

"The US president termed the recent development of Bangladesh as impressive," Dr Momen added.

The foreign minister said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's participation in the G 20 Summit was very fruitful, as through it the spectacular achievement of the country could be showcased in front of the global leaders.

The foreign minister said that the world leaders lauded the Bangladesh government for successfully managing a country of 170 million people.

Responding to a question whether the Teesta issue was discussed during Hasina’s meeting with her Indian counterpart, the FM said that they decided to discuss the pending issues at the official level.

Earlier, addressing a programme, Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen said, the programme titled "Smart Bangladesh Roundtable Discussion for Youth Perspective'' was organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He said, "The development and deployment of cutting-edge technology, including blockchains and Neural Networks, underscores the government's commitment to create a culture of innovation within its operations. It also indicates an increasing willingness to grow in-house competencies in AI and adjacent technologies."

Dr Abul Kalam Azad, former principal secretary & co-chair of Smart Bangladesh Network (SBN), attended the event as the special guest.

Dr Syed Muntasir Mamun, chief innovation officer and DG, Trade, Investment & ICT, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said Ashfaq Zaman, strategic communications advisor of a2i and coordinator MoFA a2i ilab also spoke on the occasion.
