A 25-year-old youth was found dead after allegedly hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his residence in Hazaribagh of Dhaka on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Md Nazmul, son of Abul Bashar of Barguna Sadar upazila. He had been living with his family at a rented house in the Vaucher area behind Live Care Hospital under Hazaribagh Police Station, reports UNB.

Bashar said his son fell asleep at night and secretly hanged himself from the ceiling fan. Later, when they noticed, they rescued him and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where physicians declared him dead upon arrival in the early morning.

The reason behind the suicide is unknown, and Nazmul, a mason by profession, leaves behind a one-and-a-half-year-old son, the father said.

Md. Faruk, in charge of the DMCH police outpost, said the body has been kept at the hospital morgue, and the police station concerned was informed.
