Police have recovered the dead body of a 22-year-old man from a flat in Kodomtola of Dhaka’s Basabo.

The man has been identified as Yogen Gonzales, said Rashed Hasan, senior assistant police commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

The victim’s hands and legs were tied using a scarf, he said. There were wounds on his body inflicted by a sharp weapon.

A former student of the Notre Dame College, Gonzales was expelled for not attending his classes regularly.

He had rented the flat in Kodomtola on February 1. During his interaction with the landlord, he had introduced a woman as his sister, who he said would be living with him in the flat, reports bdnews24.

But they did not stay in the flat regularly, said the police official citing the landlord.

“The two came home together on Tuesday. Then at 11:00pm, a neighbour noticed that the flat’s door was open and told the landlord. The landlord then went in and found the dead body.”

Police recovered the body at around 1:00am on Wednesday. His family members live in Chattogram and police are trying to contact them.
