Police arrested a young man over an allegation of posting a distorted photo of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on social media site Facebook.
The detainee was identified as Swapan Mandal, 21, son of Moslem Uddin Modal of Gaopara village in Bagha Upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Bagha Police Station Mohsin Ali was quoted by UNB news agency as saying that Swapan digitally edited an image defacing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and posted it on his Facebook wall on July 4, 2017.
Local Awami League leaders informed it to police immediately, but the law enforcers could not manage to arrest him as he had gone into hiding then.
Later on Friday evening, being tipped-off, police detained Swapan.
He will be produced before the court on Saturday, the OC added.
