YouTuber Ashraful Hossain, known as Hero Alom, was attacked on the premises of a court in Bogura.

Alom was punched and kicked before being dragged out of the court and further beaten by assailants who then forced him to do sit-ups while holding his ears, according to witnesses.

Police were nearby but did not intervene. Locals later took Alom to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura.

Alom alleged that the BNP had orchestrated the attack on him.

He claimed that Roni Sarkar, a member of the executive committee of the Bogura Court Lawyers' Assistant Association, led the assault.

Sarkar acknowledged the attack, saying, “I, along with lawyer Nazmul Huda, led the attack on Hero Alom.”

Huda is the joint general secretary of the Bogura district BNP.

Sarkar said the attack was in retaliation for Alom's comments against BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman and a lawsuit against party joint secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

Alom denied making derogatory remarks about Tarique Zia, stating, “I never insulted Tarique Zia. I was coerced by former Detective Branch chief Harun Or Rashid to file a case against Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.”

Nazmul Huda denied involvement in the attack.

Abdul Bashed, former general secretary of the Bogura District Lawyers' Association and BNP vice-president, said, “No BNP members are involved in the attack.

“The authorities should identify the perpetrators. If any party member is implicated, action will be taken.”

Alom had gone to court to file a case against senior political figures, including Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and former Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal.
