Yunus forms high-level committee to ensure fair rawhide prices of sacrificial animals

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Sunday directed the formation of a high-level committee to ensure fair pricing for sacrificial animal hides during the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha.
The committee, led by Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin, will also oversee animal transportation, waste management, and the proper use of Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs) in hide processing, according to local media.
Yunus emphasised that syndicates have long deprived citizens, especially the underprivileged, of fair hide prices, and this mismanagement must end.
The committee will also include Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhtar, Industry Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan, Road Transport and Bridges Adviser Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan, Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and Water Resources Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Information Adviser Mahfuz Alam, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Home Affairs Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Special Assistant on Home Affairs to the Chief Adviser Khuda Baksh Chowdhury, Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (Bida) Ashik Chowdhury, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser Shafiqul Alam, Secretary of the Ministry of Industries Md Obaidur Rahman, along with representatives from religious institutions and leather traders.
