Author, poet, translator, and academic scholar Shahnaz Shithy’s travelogue titled “Lebanon: Shomriddho Itihash O Oitijjer Ek Boichitromoy Upakkhan” (Lebanon: A Diverse Tale of History and Culture) was launched at Ekushey Book Fair in Dhaka on Monday (17 February 2025).
This book is based on the author’s trips to Lebanon and her insightful musings and empirical views on the cultural legacy, historic background, literary affluence, and current economic and socio-political situation of Lebanon, according to a press statement.
It has been published by Meghdoot Prokashon.
In her professional life, Shahnaz Shithy is an Associate Professor at the Department of English Language and Literature at Premier University, Chittagong. She has so far penned a broad spectrum of articles and poems in various national daily newspapers. Moreover, a remarkable number of research papers by her have been published in peer-reviewed English journals.
Shahnaz Shithy has also translated short stories of famed Brazilian novelist Paulo Coelho into Bengali. She is married to Captain Zahid Hossain, Bangladesh Navy. The couple is blessed with two sons.
