Syed Shukur Ali Shuvo, Special Correspondent of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), received the International Human Rights Peace Award-2025.
He was given the honour at a discussion titled 'Establishing Universal Media and Our Role’ and the International Human Rights Peace Award-2025 ceremony at Biswa Sahitya Kendra in the capital on Saturday, according to a statement.
Asia Human Rights Foundation and International Expatriate Human Rights Foundation jointly organized the discussion and award-giving ceremony on the occasion of World Human Rights Day-2025 with president of International Expatriate Human Rights Foundation HM Moniruzzaman in the chair.
Supreme Court Justice Sikder Maqbul Haque was present as the chief guest and IBAIS University Professor Mohammad Ahsan Ullah was present as the main discussant.
Later, the chief guest, along with other guests, including organisers of the event, handed the peace ward trophy over to Syed Shukur Ali Shuvo.
Asia Human Rights Foundation Adviser Professor Dr MA Sattar, Organising Secretary of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Erfanul Haque Nahid, Former President of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) Syed Shukur Ali Shuvo, Former General Secretary of Bangladesh Photo Journalist Association (BPJA) Kajal Hazra, Vice President Md Mashiur Rahman Sumon, Adviser of International Expatriate Human Rights Foundation Eliza Zaman, among others, were present as special guests at the event.
The guests also distributed blankets among the students of an orphanage school.
Chairman of the Bangladesh National Human Rights Association Md Manjur Hossain Isha moderated the programme.
The speakers highlighted the need for human rights in human life and emphasized the importance of establishing human rights in society.
