Mountaineer Ikramul Hasan Shakil has started his ‘Sea to Summit’ expedition, which involves traversing from the shores of Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh to ascend Mount Everest, the highest peak in the Himalayas. His journey began at 11:00 am on Tuesday from Inani Beach, Cox’s Bazar.

Upon the successful completion of this expedition, Shakil aims to establish a Guinness World Record. His objective is to secure the record for the fastest ascent of Everest while covering a significant distance on foot at a young age, according to a press release.

The expedition is being fully supported by PRAN, one of the country's leading food brands. Mr. Noodles, a popular noodle brand, is collaborating as the snack partner.

During this 90-day expedition, Shakil will travel approximately 1,300 kilometres of challenging terrain across Bangladesh, India, and Nepal before reaching Everest’s 29,031-foot summit. His goal is to complete the expedition without harming the environment. Along the way, he will raise awareness about plastic waste management, plastic pollution, carbon emission reduction, and the importance of sustainable environmental solutions.

Regarding his journey, Ikramul Hasan Shakil stated, “The path is extremely dangerous. However, achieving something significant for my country would be the greatest accomplishment of my life. The support from my family and adventure enthusiasts is a great source of inspiration for me.”

He further added, “PRAN is encouraging the younger generation in sports and various other sectors. I hope they continue to support and inspire young dreamers like us in the future.”

Kamaruzzaman Kamal, Director of Marketing at PRAN-RFL Group, said, “We have always wanted to support initiatives that bring pride to our country. We will provide all possible support to mountaineer Shakil so that he can successfully achieve his goal.”

Previously, Ikramul Hasan Shakil earned recognition as the first Bangladeshi to successfully complete Nepal’s 1,700-kilometer-long ‘Great Himalaya Trail.’
