The World Day to Combat Desertification (WDCD) will be observed worldwide on June 17 with the focus on sustainable land management as a way to regenerate economies, create jobs and revitalise communities.
The Day will convene under the slogan: "Land Has True Value. Invest In It," to remind the the world that land is tangible asset with measurable value beyond just cash, according to UN website.
The WDCD is observed every year to promote public awareness of international efforts to combat desertification. The day is a unique moment to remind everyone that land degradation neutrality is achievable through problem-solving, strong community involvement and co-operation at all levels.
