A total of 19 senior bankers along with three professionals have applied for the post of a deputy governor of the Bangladesh Bank, officials said.
The government-formed search committee on appointing the deputy governor is expected to meet at the central bank headquarters in Dhaka on Monday.
A short-list from the applicants will be prepared for the interview, according to the officials.
"Only short-listed candidates will be called for the interview," an official familiar with the process said.
The financial institutions division of the ministry of finance had earlier sought applications from interested candidates for the post.
The applicants include 11 senior executives of the BB.
Among the professional bankers, one is managing director of a state-owned specialised bank, while the two are working in foreign banks.
The division had earlier formed a five-member search committee, headed by Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation chairman Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad, to select the deputy governor.
Currently, two deputy governors are functioning against the maximum of four posts.
