Some 5.15 per cent of the total road accidents in the month took place in Dhaka alone.

Mozammel Haque Chowdhury, secretary general of Jatri Kalyan Samity, said in the statement that battery-run rickshaw, easy bikes were seen occupied on the main roads which caused the increased road accidents.

Besides, the number of motorcycle is constantly increasing and reckless movement is becoming a major threat to the road safety, he observed.

Moreover, irregularities, corruption, and lack of accountability of the agencies were also responsible for the accidents.
