At least 27 people dead as bus falls into drain near Agra city

At least 27 people died and around 15 injured when a passenger bus carrying them fell into a drain in India's northern state of Uttar Pradesh on Monday morning, confirmed a state government source.

The bus was reportedly heading towards Delhi from Uttar Pradesh's capital city Lucknow. The mishap occurred near the Agra city in the wee hours of Monday morning, said Agra District Magistrate NG Ravi Kumar, reports Xinhua.

He added "The bus fell into an around 50-feet deep drain. 27 dead bodies have been recovered from the accident site so far, and around 15 injured people have been admitted in a local hospital."

According to Kumar, the rescue and relief work is still going on at the accident site.
