The award giving ceremony of ‘Green Genius Season 2’, organised by the Green Planet Club of Independent University Bangladesh (IUB), was held recently at the IUB Auditorium in Bashundhara area in the capital.
Shykh Seraj, Prominent agricultural personality and winner of Ekushey Padok was present on the occasion as Chief Guest while Dr Md Abdul Khaleque, Dean, School of Environmental Science & Management, IUB, chaired the event held Tuesday, according to a press statement.
Prof Mohd Aminul Karim, Dean, School of Business, IUB and; Prof Joynal Abedin also spoke at the function.
The event ‘Green Genius’ aimed at gathering environment friendly innovative ideas from the young minds studying in schools, colleges and universities.
Tahsin Rahman from IUB became the champion in university category and Fairuj Samia from South Breeze School became champion in School and College category. Both the champions received a Certificate, Crest and, Tk 25,000 each as recognition for their remarkable achievement.
Mr Seraj, in his speech, shared some experiences relevant to environmental issues and asked the students to help people through their innovations. He also stated that its time to do more research at the university level and submit those innovations to related institutions for creating a livable world.
Deans, senior members of the faculty and administration of IUB and many students attended the award giving ceremony.
