Bangladesh Computer Council bags int’l award for innovation

Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) has won ‘Open Group President Awards-2018’ for innovation in developing Bangladesh National Enterprise Architecture (BNEA) that will make government information and services interoperable.

Open Group, a global consortium, on Thursday conferred the award on the BCC in government enterprise architecture category at a function in Bangalore, India, reports UNB citing a press release.

Indian Minister for Law and Justice, Electronics and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad handed over the award to Project Director of Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) of BCC Md Rezaul Karim at Leela Palace in Bangalore.

The Open Group, a global consortium comprising of 580 members, awards various organisations and individuals each year for innovations and excellence in categories, including enterprise architecture, IT management, security and open platform.

The Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) Project and UK based Ernst and Young (EY) developed BNEA for making government information and services interoperable and available from a single platform.

The Open Group Expert Panel selected the BCC after a rigorous process and evaluating innovations of a large number of governments, industries and academia from Asia, Australia, Africa and Middle East in addition to various States of India.
