BIDA, DBCCI join hands to attract Dutch investment

Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and the Dutch-Bangla Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DBCCI) on Tuesday joined hands to attract more investment from the Netherlands.

To this effect, BIDA Executive Member Md. Matiur Rahman and the DBCCI President Md Anwar Shawkat Afser inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of their respective sides at a ceremony held at the BIDA headquarters in the city's Agargaon.

BIDA Executive Chairman Lokman Hossain Miah was present at the ceremony as chief guest.

BIDA Executive Member Mohsina Yasmin, DBCCI Senior Vice President Atiqul Haque and Vice President Shakawat Hossain Mamun were present at the ceremony among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Lokman said the BIDA will provide all kinds of support to the trade body to attract foreign countries.

"The present government led by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has created a friendly environment for businessmen," he mentioned.

Different industrial parks including the export processing zones (EPZs) and economic zones (EZs) will provide safe zones for the foreign investors in Bangladesh, he added.

He appreciated the DBCCI Board of Directors for its initiative to attract FDI from the Benelux region as well as from other European countries.

Anwar Shawkat Afser said that a new era has been started with the MoU signing.

Through the affiliation with the BIDA, the DBCCI will start issuing the Certificate of Origin for Bangladeshi exporters to Europe to facilitate the trade and thwart fraudulence.

DBCCI President highlighted the upcoming event of "Bangladesh Investment Road Show in the BENELUX-2023"to be jointly organised by BIDA and DBCCI in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg during February 25 to March 3, 2023.
