Tailors in Brahmanbaria district town have been passing busy time to ensure delivery of ordered items ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Most of them are working more than 16/17 hours daily as holy Eid-ul-Fitr is knocking at the door.
According to the sources, there are more than 150 tailoring shops in the district town where several hundred tailors are making dresses for the locals, reports UNB.
Some owners of tailoring shops said they won't take any more order after 22/23 day of Ramadan.
On the other hand, some of the renowned tailoring shops also stopped taking orders for shirt, pant, selwar, kameez and other gents and ladies wears after the first week of Ramadan.
So, the gathering at the tailoring shops in the town to give orders has declined now, but the gathering is increasing for getting delivery of dresses.
However, some tailors said quantity of order is comparatively lower during this Eid due to rain in the early days of Ramadan.
Tailoring shops in the Super Market, New Market, Hawkers' Market, Co-operative Market and some other markets in the town were found busy in delivering their ordered clothes.
Romana Begum, a housewife of Paikpara area, said, "Everyone wants to wear new dresses during Eid, and there are many clothes with the same design in the stores of ready-made garments. As the quality and design of those are not good enough, we throng to the tailoring house."
"The dresses made by tailors fit me perfectly," she added.
A college girl from Phulbaria area said, "I came here to make a three-piece set for perfect and beautiful fitting."
Moreover, if there is any problem, they will solve it, she added.
But, she further pointed out that dressmaking charges have gone up by Tk 150 to Tk 300 as compared to last year.
Some owners of the tailoring shops said customers placed orders for dresses like Long Kamiz, Katrina, Champakali, Rabeya, Malati and Mannetta as the trend is being followed from Indian style.
Jasim Hossain, owner of Punjabi Tailors of New Market said, "I used to work with the help of only one worker but on the occasion of Eid, I have employed another five to seven workers due to the pressure."
