BUP Career Club is going to launch the ‘BUP Career Edge- 2021' to give students an edge in the competitive job market.

The event used to be exclusive to the BUP students. However, this year, the organisers have decided to include the country’s other prominent universities in the programme, scheduled to take place on May 21-28.

It will consist of webinars and training and skill development sessions to be conducted by the country’s eminent professionals.

The event will start with sessions on soft skills, such as growth mindset, work attitude, restarting oneself, interview and communication skills.

It will then focus on hard skills, such as MS PowerPoint tips and tricks, MS Excel fundamentals, managing professional Facebook and LinkedIn profiles etc.

The programme will also focus on other skills, namely video editing, CV review, productivity during the pandemic and career-related discussions, such as getting a job, personal branding, and preparing for MNC’s.

An assessment of how much students have retained from the sessions will take place on the concluding day of the programme.

The first two positions will receive awards. Participants scoring above 75 per cent will obtain a certificate of excellence.  The rest will obtain a certificate of participation.

Established in 2016, BUP Career Club has been working as the point of contact between students and organisations. The club’s main objective is to serve as a platform to boost industry-academia alliance, facilitate the recruitment process of fresh graduates, and provide training for landing jobs.

BUP Career & Education Fest, Make It Count, and Career Edge are the club’s three signature events. It also hosts roadshows and outreach sessions involving organisations and industry experts.

The event aims to give students a window of opportunity to get in touch with the professionals, according to Marjuka Ahmed Chowdhury, Joint Secretary of BUP Career Club.

"I hope the event will enhance students’ learning curves enable them to acquire knowledge from the sessions,” he said.
