Annual cash withdrawal from the country’s Automated Teller Machine (ATM) increased by around 6 per cent in the past fiscal year (FY17).
Latest statistics of Bangladesh Bank showed that clients withdrew some Tk 1.12 trillion from the ATMs in the past fiscal year while the amount was Tk 1.06 trillion in FY16.
The central bank statistics also revealed that total number of ATMs in the country stood at 9,246 at the end of June this year.
On the quarterly basis, the highest amount of cash withdrawal took place during the last quarter (April-June) of FY17 when clients withdrew some Tk 313.22 billion.
Debit card dominated the ATM transaction in the country. Almost 98 per cent of the cash withdrawal from the ATMs was done by using the debit cards in the last fiscal year.
