Cautionary signal No 3 for maritime ports

The country’s maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to hoist the mast local cautionary signal three to alert vessels of a possible squall.

The weather office's advisory for cautionary signal number three -- which means that a depression has formed and may affect the ports later -- comes under the influence of a Low pressure over Northwest Bay and adjoining Bangladesh –West Bengal coast.

Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports, the North Bay, and the adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, according to the Met office, reports UNB.

"All boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice," it added.

It is likely to move in a west-northwesterly direction, according to the forecast.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur across most parts of the country in the next 24 hours until 9:00 am Wednesday under the impact of the low, Bangladesh Meteorological Department said.

Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
