Ctg port fully restarts operation

CHATTOGRAM: The Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) has fully restarted operation at the country's prime sea after three days on Friday.

The captains of CPA have taken ships to the jetties from the deep sea as the rough sea calmed and the cautionery signal number-3 was withdrawn.

CPA officials said, operational activities of the port were suspended on May 19. The loading-unloading at jetties and outer anchorage were also suspended due to the rough weather created by cyclonic storm Amphan. After cyclone's crossed Bangladesh's southern and southweatern districts early Thursday, the Met office lifted the signal number-3.

A total of 99 large ships returned to the Outer Anchorage from deep sea till Friday morning.

Secretary of CPA Mohammed Omar Faruk said, "Actually loading and unloading that was stopped from Tuesday morning. The activities started again and ships which went to deep sea for safety have returned to jetties and Outer Anchorage again. We have withdrawn the port alert number 3."
