Detectives arrested two suspected drug pedlars along with 550 bottles of Phensedyl syrup at Palashpole in Satkhira district town on Saturday night.

The detainees were identified as Babar Ali, son of Abdul Gafur of Kaliganj upazila, and Al-Amin, son of Moksed Ali of Debhata upazila from the truck, UNB reports.

Ali Ahmed Hashemi, Inspector of Detective Branch (DB) in the district, said he along with other detectives went to Palashpole being tipped-off that a gang of drug peddlers would take a consignment of drugs through the area.

Later, the law enforcers waylaid a truck, coming from Kaliganj upazila, around 8:30 pm and recovered 550 bottles of Phensedyl syrup after searching the vehicle.

During primary interrogation, Babar and Al-Amin confessed that they were taking the contraband syrup to Dhaka, said Inspector Hashemi.

A case was filed in this connection.
