The two students, who had gone missing in the Bay of Bengal while swimming in Bashbaria beach under Sitakunda upazila on Thursday, were found dead on Friday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Emon, 19, a Class-XI student and son of Mohammad Khokon of Siddhirganj in Narayanganj district, and Raj, 18, a Class-X student hailing from Tongi of Gazipur.
Station officer of Sitakunda Fire Service Wasi Azad said a group of tourists from Narayanganj went to bathe in the sea around 2:30pm on Friday, reports UNB.
However, some of them, including two maternal cousins Emon and Raj, drowned while bathing, he said.
Locals managed to rescue seven of them while the two students remained missing.
Their bodies were retrieved Friday afternoon by divers.
