Dutch envoy appreciates green initiatives of N'ganj knit factory

Ambassador of The Netherlands to Bangladesh Harry Verweij visited Plummy Fashions Ltd, country’s first globally–certified green knitwear factory, in Narayanganj on Monday.

Plummy Fashions is the greenest knit garment factory in the world having LEED Platinum certificate from USGBC.

According a press release, Harry Verweij's wife Mrs. Akkie Okma and his son Mr. Berend Jan Aiso Verweij accompanied him during the visit.

The Dutch envoy walked around the factory and expressed his appreciation to the initiatives taken by garment factory to make it a comfortable work place for the workers and to protect the environment.

Harry Verweij also expressed his satisfaction regarding huge development took place in the country's RMG sector in recent years.

He hoped that the concerned stake holders will now focus to establish positive branding of local RMG sector in the rest of the world .

The green initiatives taken by Plummy and others will also help a lot in this respect, he opined.

Managing Director of Plummy Fashions, also Former President BKMEA,. Fazlul Hoque, Directors of Plummy Faysal Parag, Ikramul Hoque Rayan and Mrs. Mahjabeen Quader, Senior Advisor to the Embassy were present on the occasion, among others.
