Export to Canada reaches $696 million in January-July

The country’s merchandise export to Canada reached $696 million in the first seven months of the current calendar year, according to the latest estimate of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).

 

The data also showed that the annual export to Canada in the past fiscal year (FY17) stood at $1079.18 million.

 

Canada is the 14th largest goods importer country of the world, according to the latest statistics of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

 

In 2016, Canada’s annual import was valued at $96.47 billion and the country’s share in global trade reached 2.05 per cent.

 

The North American country provides tariff-free market access to 98.6 per cent of its importable products under its Generalised System of Preference (GSP) scheme. The rules of origin allow only 25 per cent local value addition.
