Expressway from airport to Banani to complete in Jan: Minister

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said the first phase work on Dhaka Elevated Expressway from Shahjalal International Airport to Banani Railway Station will be completed in January next.

The minister came up with the information while talking to reporters after visiting the construction work on the project at Kawla in the city, reports UNB.

The second and third phases of works on the elevated expressway stretching from Banani Railawy Station to Kutubkhali on Dhaka-Chattogram highway via Moghbazar Level-Crossing, being implemented under public-private partnership (PPP) project, will be completed by March 2022, he said.

Chief engineer of Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA) Kazi Mohammad Ferdous, project director of Dhaka Elevated Expressway (PPP) AHM Shakhawat Akhter and officials concerned of Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited were present.

The 20-km Dhaka Elevated Expressway, involving Tk 89.4 billion, will connect Shahjalal International Airport with Kutubkhali on Dhaka-Chattogram highway via Kuril, Banani, Mohakhali, Tejgaon, Moghbazar, Kamalapur, Sayedabad and Jatrabari.
