FE to hold webinar on supply chain during Covid, tomorrow

Second episode of the webinar series, organised by The Financial Express (FE), will be held tomorrow (Wednesday).

It will focus on the tectonic shifts in supply chains as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, and how the sector can adapt to these shifts and go forward.

The virtual discussion - "Managing Supply Chain During Covid-19 and Beyond" - will start at 7:00 pm (Bangladesh Time), where top executives of some leading companies and financial institutions of the country are expected to be present.

Chairman of Unilever Consumer Care Ltd Masud Khan, Managing Director and CEO of IPDC Mominul Islam, Regional CEO (Asia) of ISCEA and UNDP Supply Chain Advisor Ejazur Rahman, Supply Chain Director of Unilever Bangladesh Ltd Ruhul Quddus Khan, Supply Chain Director of Marico Bangladesh Habibur Rahman, and CEO of Peakward Bangladesh Ltd Syed Naimul Abedin are the respected panelists of the event.

Melita Mehjabeen, Associate Professor of Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka, will moderate the discussion.

The discussants will focus on global supply chain disruption and its differences with local disruption, how global supply chain disruption impacted Bangladesh, and how the country reacted by coming with necessity goods and solutions born of the Covid-19 outbreak.

The discussion will also include network mapping and sustainable demand supply planning issues that increased during the pandemic, and supporting business partners of large corporations - current situation and solutions devised to help third party suppliers, distributors and retailers.

Besides, the panelists will discuss about digital technologies and steps that were accelerated towards digital supply chain network from traditional supply chain model, and key financial innovation and government support that are currently helping the local supply chain network from retailers to manufacturers.

The webinar will also highlight growth and recovery in consumer, industrial and manufacturing sectors - what to expect this year or before large populations are vaccinated.

Through sharing thoughts and experiences, the discussants will touch areas like how the pandemic impacts supply chain, and what are the necessary reforms that need to be taken for ensuring sustainable sectoral growth.

Simultaneously, the panelists are expected to share the hidden risks by identifying the vulnerabilities, and how the supply base can be diversified to ensure steady production amid future shocks.

The webinar will try to provide the audience with a better understanding regarding the necessity of reforms in supply chain management in a post-pandemic world.
