Forty Jamaat men detained in city for ‘plotting sabotage’

Police in a drive arrested 40 leaders and activists of Islamic terrorist organisation - Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen after a drive on a flat in city’s Mirpur area on charges of plotting sabotage and planning to carry out anti-government activities.

Police personnel from Kafrul station raided the flat on a third floor of a building at East Shewrapara on Saturday afternoon following a tip off that the Jamaat men gathered there, said Inspector Aslam Uddin.

Among the arrestees, it was revealed that six to seven suspects were direct members of the organisation controlling central and local leadership, said Aslam.

He said police would take them to court on Sunday, reports bdnews24.

He also added that the law enforcers carried out drives at different places following information given by the arrested Jamaat men, but did not find anyone.
