The gold prices have been revised downward by Tk 100 per gram in the local market following a decline in the global rates.

Each gram of 22-carat gold has now been fixed at Tk 4,300, down from Tk 4,400 set on Thursday last.

And each gram of 21-carat and 18-carat gold will now be sold at Tk 4,100 and Tk 3,670 respectively.

The new rates of the precious metal will come into effect today (Tuesday), according to a statement issued by the Bangladesh Jewellers' Samity (BAJUS) on Monday.

"BAJUS has revised the gold prices considering a continuous fall in the price of the metal in the international market and the bullion in the local market," said the statement signed by BAJUS General Secretary Dilip Kumar Agarwala.

As per the new rate, the price of a bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold would be around Tk 50,155.

Meanwhile, the price of traditional (sanatan) gold was fixed at Tk 2,300 per gram and the price of 21-carat (cadmium) silver at Tk 80 per gram, down from Tk 2,365 and Tk 90 respectively.

Also, the price of 23-carat platinum has been fixed at Tk 5,300, down from Tk 5,500, according to the BAJUS statement.
