Huge fire guts 60 shanties in Keraniganj

At least 60 shanties were gutted in a fire that broke out at Aganagar area in Keraniganj upazila of Dhaka on Friday night.

The fire broke out in a room of Hashem Shah's mess in the area around 8:00pm and soon spread to the adjacent shanties, sources said.

A shop was also gutted in the fire, reports UNB.

Sajib Sarkar, in-charge of Keraniganj Fire Service and Civil defence, said on information, five units of firefighters rushed in and doused the flame after one and a half hours of frantic efforts.

The fire might have originated due to leakage in gas supply line said, he said.

However, no casualty was reported.
