Hurricane Harvey death toll reaches 50

 Texas officials now say at least 50 people are confirmed deceased or feared dead following destructive flooding from Hurricane Harvey.

Most of the deceased have been in Harris County, where officials confirmed 28 deaths so far, the Houston Chronicle reported. President Donald Trump is visiting Houston and Lake Charles, La., on Saturday.

Early in the afternoon, Trump and first lady Melania Trump stopped at Houston's NRG Center, which is being used as a shelter for those the storm has displaced. The president hugged storm survivors and fed others, the New York Times reported.

Trump said he received positive feedback from those affected by the storm about his administration's response.

"They're really happy with what's going on," he told the reporters. "It's something that's been very well received."

But outside of the shelter, officials along the Texas coast are still determining the extent of the storm's widespread destruction.

The morgue at the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences had 134 bodies in storage as of Friday afternoon and requested additional space to expand its capacity of 203 bodies.

The state provided a refrigerated truck to offer "extra storage capacity as ongoing search and recovery efforts continue over the next several weeks," spokeswoman Tricia Rudisill Bentley said.
