ICCB's conference on financing for sustainable development to begin Tuesday

The International Chamber of Commerce, Bangladesh (ICCB) is going to organise a three-day conference on financing for inclusive and sustainable development in Dhaka from Tuesday.

The event, titled 'Asia-Pacific Conference on Financing for Inclusive and Sustainable Development' will be held in partnerships with the ESCAP, and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and government of Bangladesh.

The high profile conference will focus on enhancing investment and international development cooperation to finance 2030 agenda for sustainable development goals (SDGs)in Asia and Pacific region.

“It is a tough job achieving 17 goals by 2030; Asia Pacific region only will require US$1.5 trillion annually for realising the goals,” ICCB President Mahbubur Rahman said at a press briefing on Saturday at Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) auditorium.

“We will discuss, mainly, on how to finance SDG aspirations for Asia Pacific region in this three-day conference,” he said.

President Abdul Hamid will be present as chief guest at the inaugural session.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen private industry and investment advisor to Prime Minister Salman F Rahman will also attend inaugural session.

Some 100 international dignitaries from 30 countries, and 400 delegates from Bangladesh will attend the conference.

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the world business organisation, is celebrating its centenary celebration this year. Meanwhile, ICCB is also observing 25 years of inception.

DCCI President Osama Taseer, senior journalist Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul and ICCB Secretary General Ataur Rahman were also present at the press conference.
