IGP urges police members to work with more dedication

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed has urged members of the police to work with more dedication for the welfare of the people.

The IGP was speaking at a function at RMP Police Lines on the occasion of the 30th founding anniversary of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) on Friday afternoon, reports UNB.

The IGP said people have high expectations from the police.

As the country moves forward, the people's expectations from the police will increase, the IGP said, adding that the police officials must be ready to provide the expected services.

 “We have to serve the people beyond their expectations," he told the police officials.

At present, crimes like theft, robbery etc. are decreasing significantly but economic and cyber crimes are on the rise, the IGP said. The police must be ready to deal with such crimes. People need to be more aware of these crimes through bit policing and community policing.

The IGP also appreciated the unique role of RMP in the security of the city dwellers and called for more efforts for the safety of the people through innovative policing.

RMP Commissioner Mohammad Abu Kalam Siddique presided over the function.

Vice-Chancellor of Rajshahi University Golam Sabbir Sattar, Principal (Additional IG) of Bangladesh Police Academy Abu Hassan Mohammad Tariq, Range DIG Mohammad Abdul Baten and Acting President of Mahanagar Awami League Bir Muktijoddha Mohammad Ali Kamal spoke on occasion.

RMP police officers, police superintendents of different districts of the Rajshahi range, eminent personalities of the city and political leaders were also present.
