Indian border guards gun down Bangladeshi

A Bangladeshi citizen was shot dead by Indian border guards BSF (Border Security Force) at Shimultoli border in Patnitala upazila of Naogaon early Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Ershad Ali, son of Gazim Uddin of Ambati village.

The BSF members of the Bhatshala camp opened fire on a group of Bangladeshi people while they were trying to enter the Indian territory in the early morning, leaving Ershad dead on the spot, said Lt Col Khijir Khan, commanding officer of BGB-14 battalion.

UNB said the BSF members later took away the body.

BGB sent a letter to BSF for holding a flag meeting, said the BGB official.
