Indian envoy calls on President

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das made a courtesy call on President Md Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban in Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon.

During the meeting, President Hamid said bilateral relations between Bangladesh and India are very excellent and the relations have been expanding gradually, Principal Information Officer (PIO) Md Joynal Abedin said, reports BSS.

The head of the state said the people and the government of Bangladesh gratefully recall the crucial role played by the people and the government of India in gaining the independence of Bangladesh in 1971.

Referring to huge potentials of bilateral cooperation in different areas, including trade, investment and communication, the President requested the Indian envoy to work for utilizing the potentials.

The high commissioner said people in both the countries are enjoying all sorts of benefits because of the existing longstanding good relations between Bangladesh and India.

She hoped that the existing railway-water-road communication link would further expand in the days to come.

Secretaries concerned to the Bangabhaban and senior officials of Indian high commission were present on the occasion.
