The government of Japan has extended a grant of approximately Tk 2.0 million to JAAGO Foundation Trust (JAAGO) through Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGHSP), according to a press release.

Ambassador ITO Naoki signed ‘Grant Contracts’ for GGHSP at the Embassy of Japan with Korvi Rakshand Dhrubo, chairman of JAAGO Foundation Trust.

JAAGO has been awarded the grant for “The Project for Providing Bus Service for the Students and the Community Teachers in Bandarban District”.

Since its establishment in 2007, JAAGO has been working to provide educational opportunities to underprivileged children and promoting volunteer youth activities for youth development.

JAAGO, with the assistance of the GGHSP funding, will support the students and community teachers of its JAAGO Bandarban School with a school bus to travel to and from the remote location to the school.

Japan has supported 199 NGO projects through its Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGHSP) since 1989 with a view to enhancing economic and social human security in the grass-roots levels.

The total sum of these GGHSP grants extended to NGOs in Bangladesh to date amounts to approximately  $16 million.
