Jhalakati mobile courts jail 79 in January

Mobile courts in Jhalakati in January sentenced 79 people to different jail terms and realised around Tk 0.13 million in fine on different charges.

Besides, 77 cases were filed during 50 mobile court drives conducted in the last month, said Manik Rahman, additional district magistrate, while addressing a meeting on the law and order at the conference room of the deputy commissioner's office recently.

Of the convicts, two were sentenced to six months' imprisonment each while another faced a 17-day jail term, he said.

Several bricks kilns were fined Tk 10,000 while different organisations Tk 34,450 under the Consumer Rights Protection Act and some others Tk 7,700 under the Bangladesh Environment Conservation Act, reports UNB.

Four mobile court drives jailed 9 people and realised Tk 50,000 in fine under the Protection and Conservation of Fish Act.
