Jubo League, the youth front of the ruling Awami League (AL), has expelled its leader Khaled Mahmud Bhuiyan, two days after his arrest over illegal casino business inside a club in Dhaka.

"The central committee of Jubo League took the decision as several allegations were recently received against Khaled Mahmud Bhuiyan," Jubo League General Secretary Harunur Rashid told bdnews24.com on Friday.

Khaled is the organising secretary of the organisation.

“Khaled has been expelled. The next decision will be made later,” said Rashid responding to a question about the reason for his expulsion.

RAB busted Khaled after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday expressed her anger over some of the Jubo League leaders in a meeting of the Awami League’s executive committee.

On Thursday, police had been granted seven days to question Khaled in connection with two cases relating to arms and drugs.

The RAB apprehended Khaled from his residence in the capital's Gulshan on Wednesday.

It also seized 585 yaba tablets, a large cache of foreign currencies and illegal weapons from his home and large quantities of alcohol, gambling equipment and Tk 2.4 million from the club.
