Kolkata police arrest ‘India head’ of JMB

Kolkata police's Special Task Force (STF) have arrested Taufeeq Raza alias Ejaz Ahmed, the India head of terror group Jammat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).

The STF arrested the accused, who was involved in the 2014 Khagragarh blast, from Gaya in Bihar on Monday morning.

Ahmed, a 31-year-old resident of Parui, Birbhum district of West Bengal had joined the banned terrorist outfit - JMB in 2008, according to media reports.

A laptop, hard disk and a phone besides other Jihadi literature were seized from his possession, police said.

Ahmed is accused in multiple cases of terror attacks, including the one at Gaya last year during the visit of the Dalai Lama.

“He was produced before a Gaya Gaya court before being forwarded to West Bengal,” said Gaya SSP Rajiv Mishra said.
