Man attempts suicide after killing wife in Rangamati

A man tried to commit suicide reportedly after hacking his wife to death over a family feud at Islampur village in Langadu Upazila of Rangamati on the Eid day on Monday, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Hasna Begum, 45, wife of Nazim Hossain of the village.

Quoting locals, officer-in-charge of Langadu Police Station Sheikh Mohammad Noor said Nazim chopped his wife in the head with a sharp weapon during a brawl in the morning, leaving her dead on the spot.

Later, Nazim stabbed himself in the stomach with a knife in an apparent attempt to take his own life, he said.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Rangamati District Hospital morgue for autopsy while Nazim was taken to Langadu Health Complex, the OC added.
