Miscreants hack teenager to death in Cox’s Bazar

A teenage tourist was hacked to death in broad daylight by a group of miscreants at Jambur Intersection in Kalatali road in Cox’s Bazar district town on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Abu Taher Sagar (18), an electrician by profession, son of United Arab Emirates expatriate Shafiullah, hailing from Mangalkandi village in Sonagazi upazila of Feni district, UNB reports.

Police said Taher, along with two other electricians -Nurunnabi Sajib and Nuruddin came to Cox’s Bazar in the morning, booked a hotel room at Jhautala Road and went to Laboni Point.

When the trio was returning hotel from Laboni Point, a group of 5/6 miscreants waylaid them at Jambur Intersection and asked them to give mobile phone sets and wallets.

At one stage, one of the miscreants stabbed Taher with a knife as he delayed to hand over his mobile phone set, said Nurunnabi Sajib.

Ranjit Kumar Barua, the acting officer-in-charge of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station, Taher was admitted to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

The body was sent to hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC added.
